23.11.09 Julies live @ Sonic Visions Festival
We will be in northern Europe again this week-end to take part to the Sonic Visions Festival in an italian expedition together with Beatrice Antolini and Heike has the giggles. The three bands will play at the Rockhal in Avenue du Rock'n'roll 5 (is this supposed to be a joke? If it is it's on us). We will be on stage at 9pm right on time, so be there in time!

27.10.09 Julies & Mariposa on tour in Italy: tour gift available
This fall we will be touring with italian psychedelic-prog-comedy masters Mariposa.
For the occasion we thought it could be a great idea to produce a couple of exclusive gifts. The first is the beautiful silkscreen poster designed by Arianna Vairo, printed in a very limited edition of only 80 pieces, it will be on sale at shows, but if any remain they will be available on our online shop. The second gift is a cd-r containing 3 unreleased songs: an out-take from the new Mariposa album, our own cover of the Escape from New York theme by John Carpenter and above all a cover of It's About That Time by Miles Davis recorded by the two bands together, 12 musicians playing live in the studio, no overdubs.

We just got back home from the first part of our tour in northern europe and we'd like to thank all the people who have hosted, nursed, helped us during the last week. It's been a lovely time, thanks to Angelo; Markus, Alì & everyone at Oetinger Villa; Everyone at TAC Eindhoven; Xavier & everyone at Beursschouwburg; Jacopo, Paul & all the people we met in Bruxelles; Alex, Tom, Diana & everyone at Kohi.

21.04.09 Vinyl re-pressed & Digital Download at Amazon.com
The first pressing of the double-LP set of Our Secret Ceremony has gone sold out in a few weeks. A Silent Place has announced today that a re-print of the vinyl is due in a short time in 500 copies.
Collectors must not fear, though: we can list the differences between the first release and this re-print. First of all the colour of the discs which is transparent in the first release while this new issue comes in a classic black; then you will be able to recognize the first edition by the progressive handmade numbering of the original 300 copies on the back of the cover jacket. We'll let you know as soon as this re-print is ready and available.
Meanwhile, as iTunes is taking ages to upload the album, fans of the incorporeal can buy the album as a digital download at Amazon.

While waiting for the new album (see below), we give you this last unreleased mp3 taken from the sessions for our former full-lenght. "Something Happens For The First Time" is another song written and recorded to be included on the After Dark, My Sweet album but ultimately left out of the final tracklist. The song was then given to the italian singer Lilith who performed and released it on her album The Black Lady And The Sinnersaints. This here is our original unreleased recording, performed by us and sung by Luca.

Being released Febuary 4 2009 on A Silent Place label, our new album, Our Secret Ceremony will be available as a double-cd set, limited edition double-LP set and digital download. Our Secret Ceremony is a 90 minute trip through diverse soundscapes, bred by the band's trademark eclecticism.
The promotion of the album is curated by Andrea Sbaragli for A Buzz Supreme.

02.09.08 Germany, Belgium, here we come...
Just a couple of shows for you guys over the border. On friday september the 26th we'll be playing The Swamp in Freiburg (Germany), cool place, cool beer, what more do you need? On saturday the 27th we'll be playing along with some other interesting bands at the Club B-52 in Eernegem, just outside Brugge (Belgium). We'll be back in these areas hopefully next year for more shows, but as for now this is it, so don't miss it!

The cd edition of N-Waves / U-Waves is out now, featuring the complete sessions recorded with (former Spacemen 3) Sonic Boom at Alpha Studio in Bologna during the production of the album After Dark, My Sweet. This cd edition features the two tracks released some months ago on the 10" edition plus two songs that were included in the album AD,MS, thus giving you the complete sessions that came out from this collaboration. The cd comes in a cool "etched" carton sleeve with artwork by Luca Lumaca. You can buy it directly at our online shop.

13.06.08 Julies vs Orb
The acid cover version of A Huge Ever-Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Center Of The Universe by The Orb that we have recorded is going to be released in Italy on june the 27th on the compilation Post-remixes vol. 1. The idea behind it all was to have "rock" covers of classical electro/dance tunes. After a lot of thinking we just tried to find out which was basically the electronic artist that fitted what Julies are up to now the most and the answer came immediatly: The Orb. The guys at the label were so kind to give us up to 10 minutes on the cd to do it (the original runs at over 18), we have to thank them, and also Enrico Mulas who played percussion and Giancarlo Frigieri who played his kora mande, for a version that kicks off from psychedelia to end up in some kind of afro-tribalism crash. We're very happy with it, so try to pick up this album. You can contact the label for your copy at La Valigetta website.

Our new single Sleepwalker is available for digital download. Produced by the band itself, engineered by Andrea Rovacchi at Bunker Studio in Rubiera, Sleepwalker is taken from our forthcoming new album, which is currently under work.
The single is also a video by Luca Lumaca. The video is the result of an experiment made possible thanks to the collaboration of many friends and fans that made their MacBook available on a sunny sunday afternoon in march. The video was filmed exclusively by 12 isight webcam by Apple placed around the band.

If you happen to be in Italy, you just can't miss the night of the 24th of novemer at Vibra Club in Modena. We've been invited to share stage with two real legends whom we've had the privilege and luck to collaborate with during the past few years. Damo Suzuki, former singer with the mighty Can and Pete "Sonic Boom" Kember, founding member of the seminal Spacemen 3 will join us on stage for a night of cosmic improvisation. To make this clear, as some of you are already writing to ask more info: it will not be a dj set or such, it will not be 3 different live sets. We'll all be together on stage for one single live set of what Damo likes to define "instant composition".To enrich the already tasty meal we'll also have a dj set by Antenna Uno Rock Station after the show, while the guys from Malleus Poster Art Lab will hold an exhibition of their fine poster art in the room. Malleus themselves have created a new poster exclusively for this show, hand-printed silkscreen in 2 colors, which you will have the chance to buy that same night and with some patience and luck have it signed by Damo & Pete and sell it on ebay the morning after.

We finally have a release date for the 10" N-Waves / U-Waves, featuring two sessions recorded with (former Spacemen 3) Sonic Boom at Alpha Studio in Bologna during the production of the album After Dark, My Sweet. These sessions remained unreleased until now. The first one is an alternate version of what was to became Gemini. The second one is a ambient piece called Scarfo Spanks DC. The record is released in the beautiful catalogue of the italian A Silent Place and will be out on the 9th of october in the U.S.A. distributed by NAIL, in the Uk ditributed by Cargo and in Benelux distributed by Lowlands. 30.06.07 A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain
We have uploaded a new exclusive mp3 on our MySpace page. This is a live reharsal recording of the Orb's classic "A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Center Of The Ultraworld". We've been asked to record a cover version of an electronic music classic for a compilation that's due for release in 2008. This was our natural choice and we've been lucky enough to be allowed up to 10 minutes of space on the cd (the original version clocks at over 20 minutes). Now we have produced and mixed the definitive version, but you won't be able to hear it until its release. This version we've uploaded here is our first-ever attempt in finding our own way through the song, all played live as you hear it. Of course sound quality is less than perfect, but the trip is all there.

19.06.07 Studio works
We've passed the last weekend in the studio recording some covers. Finally we put on tape our own version of "The Thief" by Can, the one we've been playing all through the last tour and that you loved so much. We have then recorded a rendition of the monumental "A Huge Evergrowing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Center Of The Ultraworld" by The Orb. This will be released in january 2008 on a very cool italian compilation featuring classics of the electronic golden-age reworked by rock combos. Last but not least we played the fundamental theme from Escape from New York by John Carpenter Stay tuned to know about eventual releases of all this stuff. Meanwhile, right this week we'll begin putting down ideas in the studio for the follow up to AD,MS

20.03.07 Black On Black: Spring Collection
It's been such a special year since our last album came out. To thank you all we've decided to present you with a special spring gift.
From March the 26th thru April the 1st, exclusively on the Rockit website, the digital ep The Dark Revisited: A Short Collection Of Remixes will be available for completely free download. It'll include 6 remixes made by different italian producers. This release of 6 mp3s (that will not be released on cd nor distributed in record shops) will be accompanied by an exclusive artwok designed by our own Andrea Scarfone on the original cover by Luca Lumaca. So you can choose to download the songs on your iPod with the digital artwork or master your own cd-r, download and build the cover (we know you know how to do that, you little crooks).
Thanks to Homesleep for their support, to Rockit hosting and promoting the idea, but most of all to all the remixers who've been working on our music, deconstructing and rebuilding it just for the sake of it.

20.01.07 Back home
The tour in northern Europe has been such a beautiful and demanding experience we don't even know where to start to tell you about it. The magic night in Groningen, packed with happy people jumping from one venue to another to try and see as much bands as possible... The mad saturday night in Amsterdam... the quite beauty of Brugge where we found possibly the best club and best promoters we could hope to meet (thanks Patrick and Nicholas! and visit young photographer Tim Paternoster's flickr page for some nice shots of that night)... and those belgian beers... the crazy aftershow in Koln, drinking vodkas in a russian pub with our friends Damo Suzuki, Luca Lumaca and Tino. We even got busted by german police on our way back home. Tired and happy, we hope to be back soon.

31.12.06 Europe Afterdark
So, here we go. We will be leaving on the 11th of january 2007 for our first european mini-tour to promote the new album After Dark, My Sweet. The big deal will take place in Groningen on the 12th where we will be playing the Eurosonic Festival: the venue is the Shadrak, time 9 pm. We're told the festival is real fun and a lot of italian bands will be playing in Groningen in those days. After that we'll move to Amsterdam, where we'll play the Bitterzoet on the 13th. The 14th we'll be in Belgium, in one of the most beautiful towns in the world, Brugge, known by foreigners as Bruges. We'll play a very nice club called The Cactus. Then we'll move to Germany, in Koeln (Cologne), where on the 16th we'll rock this very tiny space called Stereo Wonderland and we'll party for local hero Damo Suzuki's birthday. Will we be able to stuff all our gear in there?! Come and see.
We'd like to thank all the people who helped us in planning this tour, even though they're so many we'll forget some for sure. 11.12.06 Thanks Niedernsill
Our first trip to Austria was a delightful one. We've played for a bunch of very warm young people who made us feel very good. After the show Luca was kidnapped by locals in a strange ritual based on Jagermeister mignons, while Nicola and Carlo were entrapped by a young (and drunk?) magician displaying his tricks. We love these people, they all speak english with a lovely Werner Herzog accent. A nice prelude to the tour we're trying to settle for january. Hope we'll be back soon.

Friday december the 1st we'll have the chance to fullfill one more hidden dream of ours: we will function as "sound carriers" for the live performance of Damo Suzuki at Calamita in Cavriago. Former singer for the other-worldly Can, Damo has been travelling the world around for years now, collaborating with different musicians everywhere, creating a network totally devoted to improvisation. Hey foreign friends, we've just ended our fortunate summer italian tour. It's been three wonderful months of travelling and rocking and we're just getting ready to come and visit you very soon. Austrian fans get ready, we'll be playing our first austrian gig ever at Stakkato Festival in Samerstall, Niedernsill (Salzburg) on the 9th of december. This will be a preview of our forthcoming european tour that will take place in january 2007 and should touch Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands. Recorded by Francesco Donadello (drummer with italian post-rockers Giardini di Mirò and live tech for us for a long time) at Alpha Dept in Bologna, featuring mister Sonic Boom, it will be released by Homesleep, check their site for your local distributors. New issue #7 of the italian edition of Losing Today Magazine is out now. It includes a full report by Luca of our experience at the IPO festival in Liverpool, when we played at the famous Cavern Club. It's the unbelievable story of six spaghetti-rockers on the Merseyside, fighting their way through hot babes and drunk football fans partying for the Champions League winner against Milan. We have just survived two days in the studio together with Pete “Sonic Boom” Kember , founder of Spacemen 3, Spectrum and Experimental Audio Research. our friend roberto bagatti (one of the most celebrated graphic designers in italy) has designed a new logo for the band. we've just got the definitive version and we don't know where or when exactly it will be used, but we're happy to present it to you all cause we think it's just sooo cool. this logo has been already published in the book clubspotting 3.0, a volume that collects the best graphics for music. the book should be available soon worldwide (check usual book sellers, you know...)

top italian music magazine "rumore" has voted our debut album fever in the funk house as one of the top 50 italian albums of the 90s. unfortunately the cd has been out of print for years and we've kept promising for a reissue all this time. now it might be the right time.

we're proud to announce that a new band-member has been added recently to julies, his name is andrea scarfone and he's playing smash-looking and super-sounding guitars and vintage effects. we are currently working on some new material in studio with the prescious help of francesco donadello as a co-producer. we're very excited about the new stuff, it sounds great and is somewhat different from anything we've done in the past. we hope to have a new album by the end of the year, stay in touch.
